I have to admit getting this saw on a whim. I didn’t have high hopes for it.
I was wrong. This is a superb saw. It is a *real* saw. It is not a toy saw.
The 5 AH battery lasts as long as *I* do before *I* need a break (60 yo guy here). I was really surprised by this. I cut a cord and a half of firewood (pine) on a single charge — I did not expect that. I was expecting to have to swap batteries frequently but a single battery got me through all that wood.
Other benefits:
(*) It’s quiet compared to a gas saw.It has to make some noise, but you’ll immediately notice how much quieter this saw is than any gas powered saw.
(*) it’s clean. The only expendable it needs is bar and chain oil. No fooling around with messy and smelly two stroke gas/oil. If you don’t want the inside of your SUV to smell like an oil refinery, then you want this saw.
(*) When it’s off, it’s off. The engine isn’t putt-putt-putting away. If you disconnect the battery (it’s fast and simple), then the saw is truly inert. I have to admit that this tool in general terrify me (and I’ve got a scar on a knee to justify this), but this saw is incredibly easy to make safe. [And let’s just say that the “emergency off” handle bar switch works exactly as intended; I fell down with the saw running, and before I could get my finger off the trigger, I had tripped the “off” switch with my other hand. Outstanding.]
I have only used it on pine and fir; haven’t tried any hardwoods. There are probably more powerful (gas) saws, but this saw is *not* underpowered. I’m not trying to win sawing contests, I want a saw that is “just right” and this one is.

Stated run time for this is a total exaggeration. Actual time in REAL life is about half the stated, expected time. Otherwise it’s a very good’ handy item to use on small branches to cut for firewood or pruning
The charger for this is not Black and Decker’s quality product. It uses a cheap $25 charger. Black and Decker state that normally with this kit they supply their $61 charger.

Long story short, this little tool with a 12″ blade felled a 35′ tall pine with a 16″ trunk, using just two batteries.
Short story long: I already had a B&D set consisting of a weed eater and blower (the blower is like a yard hairdryer, but that’s beside the point). It came with one battery. I ordered an off brand battery (for $30, instead of paying $50 for a B&D battery), so I could have two and be able to finish all the yard trimming at one go.
I already had two batteries, so I ordered just the saw without the battery. When I took it out to that tree, I realized I had grossly underestimated the size of the trunk. I doubted highly that I’d be able to take it down with a battery powered saw, especially when the blade wasn’t anywhere close to the width of the trunk.
Half an hour later, “Timberrrrrr!!!” Down it came. I had attacked the trunk from both sides to make the initial notch. And then attacked it from both sides on the back end to finish the cut and fell it. Before I finished the back end cut, I had to swap batteries. Tree dropped right where I wanted it to.
I still had plenty of battery left, so I proceeded to tackle all the limbs. Cut pretty much all the limbs I need to in order to haul the pieces away. Left a big hunk of the main trunk to roll away for a bench or something.
I am SHOCKED this little saw took down that tree. Is it comparable to a 20″, gas powered Stihl or Husqvarna? Heck no. But it was $106, and I don’t have to worry about clogged carbs or bad gas when it sits around a long time, which it will.
Can’t say enough positive things about this saw. Very happy with the purchase.
