i’m writing this review on my literal day 1 of owning the camera and only just now finished installing it in my car. (the pic attached is from when i had JUST turned it on while i was in the passenger seat and was still fiddling with the angle. I also blocked out the location coordinates, but thats something you can toggle off in the settings as well)
the setup is simple. there are tons of quick short videos to help guide you on how you might want to tuck away the wiring. you just plug it into the car charging socket (you can also hard wire it into your car if you’re knowledgeable and comfortable doing so)
i read the booklet that came with it. a lot of useful info in it. Tons of features and settings you can use to customize it to what suits you best.
i like that it has ‘parking mode’ which means the camera will automatically turn on and record for a bit if it detects a sudden impact/movement while the car is parked (and while you are presumably away). i experienced ended up testing this while i was carrying it with my hands full. i accidentally dropped the camera, and even though it was off, it suddenly turned on and stating something along the lines of “parking mode has been activated”. It started recording, but since i didn’t fully charge it at the time, it only stayed on for a few seconds (which is normal for these type of this product. The manual states that the camera typically should be able to sustain a recording of 3-5 minutes on a fully charged battery)………………………….

this product was very easy to setup. User manual is very detailed with good graphics to guide you through the setup. Mounting and cabling was also really easy. I think the best part of the camera is the fact that with just the one module, you can record the front and interior and don’t need to run a camera/cabling to the back. Audio quality is great and night recording is not bad as well. Option for 4k front or Dual 1080p. Will also be getting the GPS mount which is quite cheap at $30 with no additional cabling or routing required, just replace the window mount. Removing the camera is very easy, and camera remains very stable during driving. Adjusting camera angles for both interior and exterior is very simple to do as well.
Some down-sides is that the interior footage windows can be a little over-exposed but that’s a small trade-off which I’m happy to make. The interior white balance and colours can appear to be a bit weird, especially for black colours but that’s nit-picking.
Overall great item for use, and very happy with it – 8.5/10

Prior to this purchase, I owned several other dashcams which I felt were lacking a major feature (they are too big and distracting). This one is actually the perfect size for my dashboard and I don’t find myself getting easily distracted. As a new driver, I am very cautious in the road but I don’t get the same treatment from other drivers all the time. Therefore, as a young driver who has a high insurance rate because of his age, I always drive with this item. I am glad I was able to find a better one that is very accomodating such as this one. Ok, so I bought this based on the reviews.
I originally gave it 3 stars, but upgraded it to 4 then 5, because of interactions with their service team, whom are very keen on making things right. I upgraded it again to 5 because their solutions and actions were great.
So, now that I have this all installed, I went out in the deep darkness for a test.
I thought that it works pretty good, but let me get into the details.
Cameras:
I found the original rear camera had a rather grainy image in the dark, but useable, I suppose I was expecting it to be a bit more of an eye into darkness than it turned out.
Am I disappointed?; well no not really, maybe some… but I did think it should be a bit better than it is.
Graininess shouldn’t be affected even considering it was installed inside the rear hatch window. The forward image is great and it’s behind a window…
So The next day it was sunny and I went for another drive. So now i find some new issues:
When driving with the sun out, looking at the rear image, there is a lot of problem with reflections. I am guessing it’s because it’s mounted on the inside, oh well, for now that will have to do until I can figure out how to mount it outside in such a place that is useful, I may try adding a small black cardboard sun shade over the lens to see if that helps.
I don’t really want to mount it outside And offset from the hatch handle (the handle is right in the center) for several reasons, first being that I don’t want it staring straight into the guy behind me’s headlights and second I don’t want some punks walking by and seeing it dangling there and decide to damage it, rip it off or diddle with it. So inside it stays for now……….

This is my 3rd camera from Amazon. And the ONLY one that is great! In my opinion and basing it on the ones I have. My first one was good, but low quality video, 2nd was 1020P video but crud night vision. I was impressed by its 4K clarity. I really like the third recorder I bought.
1. You not only have video but you can take snapshots at any time, even use it as a camera to take pictures of places and things. Might have to carry a battery pack for power but it’s a great cam too.
2. I can connect to it with my Android phone (works with smart phones too) and see what it sees. Of course the range isn’t going to be super long but say it’s on outside a restaurant and you’re close enough, you can connect and watch what’s going on.
3. You can watch the video on the cam, your phone, your TV and the computer.
4. With the Ucam APP you not only see your videos, but it will show you on the map where you are during the video.

I’ll admit it’s not as polished and perhaps not as advanced, but it does a good job at capturing video, and the rest of the features are just gravy. The one thing that caught me off-guard is that the camera is bigger than I expected. I guess it’s because of the dual lenses, I just thought it’d be smaller.
I made the mistake of reading all of the description on this camera, and I noticed that there was a note in bold letters about searching for and ordering a $5 item if you wanted to mount the camera with a suction-cup on your windshield. Well, I tried to be proactive and ordered the suction-cup at the same time I ordered my camera… Wouldn’t you know it! The camera already comes with a suction-cup mount as well as a bracket with double-sided mounting tape. Lesson? DON’T BUY THE ADDITIONAL SUCTION CUP………………………

After a recent accident, where someone claimed I changed lanes into them, instead of the other way around—I decided it was time for a dash camera. This camera is small and inconspicuous, I forget it’s there most of the time. The footage I’ve reviewed has been crisp and clear, both in daylight and at night; and easily transferred to my computer. I just hope I never need it! It was easy to install by myself (this is coming from a girl who isn’t mechanically inclined and knows next to nothing about cars) with the help of a few YouTube videos. I would recommend a headlamp though, as holding the flashlight in my teeth was a bit tricky while trying to visualize a Toyota fuse box. 🙂 I’ve been very pleased with my purchase.

You will also not be able to get the warranty through Nexar because you won’t have a nexar order number because you didn’t buy from Nexar but purchased through Amazon. I’m a long time Blackvue customer. Their cameras keep getting better and better. This is best by far! I easily installed it myself and made it so it is powered all the time using the alternate Batt and ACC wiring harness. I love the setting options that are now provided such as battery level checking which will make the unit power off if the battery drops to a certain level. I also like the ability to set whether to overwrite old Event files if the SD card gets full. That is huge! I was always having to reformat the SD card for fear that the card would get full of untouchable Event files and not record anything. The 4K video file recording is the main reason I got the camera. The normal HD video files of the older cameras had a hard time showing license plate numbers unless the car was directly in front. It’s an expensive unit, but you get what you pay for.
