This is the 3rd hose assembly I have bought from hozelock over the course of the past 10 or so years. I have however, in the past, been tempted into purchasing the odd ‘Groupon’ (amongst other, cheaper and/or on offer brands of hose) this offer.
I must stress that each and every time that I have fallen into a BOGOF or similar deal, I have been sorely wrong

Bought this to replace our old manual winding Hozelock (15m) as we really wanted to go beyond the rear garden and have scope to get to the front of the house to wash the car, water the front garden and clean the front patio.
It was pretty straight forward to install (all of the parts are contained under the side cover) and comes supplied with a variable jet spray nozzle (which I replaced with a Hozelock Multi-Spray Ultramax), a short length of tap connection hose, two hose connectors (‘regular’ and ‘water stop’ valve – which I replaced with metal ‘Pro’ versions), a screw tap connector with adaptor (again, replaced with a metal ‘Pro’ version) and 4 x 50mm screws with 7mm wall plugs which – given the weight of this (17kg empty) – looked mismatched and basically not up to the job… but if you drill them tight to the specified 7mm into a good solid wall surface, combined, I found they were absolutely rock solid on our brick wall (drilled through the brick, not the mortar)……..

I was fed up managing an unwieldy hose pipe. This fits the bill exactly. Extremely well made. I’m a 66 year old woman and was able to fit myself. The instructions to say drill 3 x 8mm holes I felt were wrong. The raw plugs didn’t go in so drilled 10mm holes which were perfect. Very easy to use and have transformed watering my garden and pots. I like Gardenia products – so well made and reliable. Can’t recommend highly enough……

After reading all the reviews (after I bought the product) I noticed two themes in the reviews that don’t agree with my experience. Many people complained about its moving when you pulled out the hose. Suncast offers a set of stakes (sold by Amazon but very difficult to find on the Amazon site) that are 8″ long and can be driven into the ground through holes in base of the reel housing that firmly holds it in place. Many other people said it does not hold 100-feet of hose. This is probably due to the fact that there are various hose diameters available. I am using the 1/2″ white marine hose and 100-feet easily fits in the housing. 5/8″ and 3/4″ hose, both common, might be a problem……..

I only have a small garden which is roughly 5 m x 6 m so I did not require a large, bulky hose which would have ended up tangled in a corner.
The tap adapter fits perfectly and even with the tap turned all the way on there is no leaking from this system.
The water gun is a joy to use, offering plenty of choice in how the water is dispersed. Although it is a narrower hosepipe I find this is not a problem.
While in use, the retaining box is light enough to carry around while watering my raised borders and hanging baskets.
I would certainly recommend this product to anyone who requires a hosepipe system for a smaller garden area……..
