I was reluctant to switch over to electric, but am pretty happy with my purchase. First, get a battery adapter to adapt your current 20v power tool batteries to the Worx trimmer, blower, etc. I own Dewalt, so I purchased an adapter here for $20. That way you save some money not having to buy the Worx batteries.
2nd, don’t expect it to cut like your old gas trimmer. It doesn’t have the grunt that a gasser has, so if you have really overgrown edges you will have to slow down and let it cut at it’s own speed. If your edges are trimmed weekly, it will handle it with ease. I’m an aggressive trimmer lol, and I had to learn to slow down and let it do its job. It cuts way smoother than my gas trimmer, and leaves a nice clean swath. It’s more controllable than traditional ones, but take the time to adjust the head and handle angle to suit your needs, trust me on this one it’ll save you some headache. Downside is my fingers get fatigued from holding the trigger down. Not sure why it’s any different from holding the throttle on my old one, but I noticed it………..

To start off, I own a $375 Honda 4-stroke string trimmer that could cut a farm field, and a 15 amp, 200 MPH corded blower that adequately clears wet leaves from a large lawn.
Why did I buy these? The cord is a pain, the corded blower sounds like a 747 landing, the Honda is heavy and a pain, and sometimes my wife wants to just touch up my grass cutting along the side of the house and the trees. She always preferred to use the 15 year old battery-powered Black and Decker that finally died. She will use the Honda only if absolutely necessary and if I start it. So we plopped down an entire $88 to buy this string trimmer and “sweeper” (they won’t call it a blower, for good reason)…..

Yesterday morning my Greenworks battery powered weed eater arrived. With the help from JJ (my dwarf pit) I opened the box and got the weed eater out and all parts. Assembly was pretty easy as all one had to do was put on the weed guard and the handle. But before even that I put the 40volt 4ah battery on to charge. I already had a 40volt 2ah and charger from the Greenworks 12 inch chainsaw I bought a few weeks ago. That is already reviewed on Amazon. For the first charge it took about an hour…………

I’m elderly & making an attempt to do edging myself to save money. This thing can really cut – I’ve even used it to clear out a small open concrete drainage line from the fence line to the end of the lawn at the street. Turned it sideways & it just dug a hole in the dirt clogging the line. Walked back and forth lengthwise down the line a few times & it cleared a good drain line down the center. Figure I can do it every time I edge & eventually clear it all out. Tickled me silly :-). The guide lets me make clean edges on the lawn by the driveway/sidewalk. I’ve even done some light hedge clipping with this thing. Emphasis on the light part…just a few branches sticking out in the walkway from an Azalea bush……..
